Love at First Sight

A story never heard...but told and retold.
This was a cute love story I wrote when I was in high school.
A simple love story of a girl fell in love for a first time
...a love at first sight.

Jess was a freshman in the high school department of a known university. She was so excited as she heard that life in high school is the best and most adventurous stage in life. She find new friends and joined in extracurricular activities which made her the cheerleader of the cheering squad in her school. One day, while practicing their cheer for the incoming inter-school league, somebody caught her attention. It was a guy sitting at the corner of the gymnasium. The guy was with his friends reading some sort of business management book. She bet he is a college student. She doesn't know what makes her feel that way, she can't help staring at him. Moments later, she found herself euphoric...painting pictures in her imagination. The only thing brought her back into reality is when she slipped and lose balance while doing some cheering stunts. Ouch! She shared this embarrassing moment to her friends. Since then, her favorite spot during breaks in on gymnasium as she learned that the guy's "tambayan" was there. She notice the guy's shirt color is either red or white whenever she see him. So she called him "Mr. Pink" (red=white) since she does not know the guy's name yet. Until one day, while waiting for the flag ceremony, Jess' friends made fun out of her. Ram, her gay friend approached the guy and asked for his name and number. He told the guy that someone's having crush on him. They learned his name as Carl. Carl was a sophomore BSIT student, five years older than Jess.

Jess' friends tease her about Carl and even make it a example in sentence construction activity during recitation in English class. Jess got mad but deep inside her being, there's an excitement and joy which she can't explain. One night, she unintentionally sent Carl a text message. She doesn't even bother to wait for his reply. But then, Carl text her back... "Hi! Do I know u?" she impulsively replied, "Elow! Got ur number from ny friend..."Then they started to know each other. That was the very first time she had her textmate. She experienced strange hapiness and even a single text message from him makes her day complete. Her friends made move for them to know each other personally. Ram approached Carl again one day and pointed to Jess. She doesn't know about this. Days and weeks past until month of Hearts came. They planned to set up Jess by giving her a flower delivery named after Carl.
